Award-winning director, photographer, digital artist and producer Indrani Pal-Chaudhuri is "famous for iconic images" and visionary storytelling (Fast Company). EDUCATION & PHILANTHROPY

Born in Calcutta, India, to a historic family and a mother who volunteered with Mother Theresa, Indrani began a successful model/actress career at 14 traveling the world to learn from cutting-edge artists. At 18, she returned to her home to co-found Shakti Empowerment Education Foundation SEEschool.org to empower women and children in India.

Indrani graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University, with a BA in Anthropology.

While a student at Princeton, Indrani developed her photography career with classical harpist Markus Klinko, mastered digital post-production and was discovered by David Bowie and fashion icon Isabella Blow. Her work soon became in demand from the most prestigious clients worldwide.

Since 2011 Indrani has expanded her focus to directing award-winning live action films, commercials and music videos.

Indrani is also Director of the World Film Forum at the UN Headquarters in New York, bringing the private and public sectors together to advance the Millennium Development Goals and Post-2015 Development Agenda.


Indrani's films have been shown at the Lincoln Center, the Museum of the Fashion Institute, the Pompidou Center Paris, and the Australian Center for the Moving Image among others.

Her first video and stills campaign for Digital Death helped raise a million dollars in under a week and won Two Gold Lions at Cannes Ad Festival for Keep A Child Alive/ TBWA against AIDS in Africa and India.

Her first short film won Best Film, Best Director, Best Visual Effects, Best Fashion and The Red Camera Award at the Fashion Film Festival at La Jolla, San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art. Starring Daphne Guinness, with a poem by Neil Gaiman, it is described as "a magical little film...Guinness shines in this tale of love, life and loss" (Huffington Post) and "a highly conceptualized interpretation... Guinness ignites a Gothic Chinese legend" (Tatler Hong Kong).

Her short film Girl Epidemic against female infanticide is described as "thrilling" (Perez Hilton) and "absolutely riveting, shocking and touching...Indrani's direction is brilliant and provocative!" (Forbes).

Her video for David Bowie's chart-topping Valentine's Day "radiates intensity" (Rolling Stone) and is "thrilling and intense" (NPR). Her video for Alicia Keys' New Day is called "bold and high-energy" (MTV).

Her Pepsi film Crescendo, "a fun, colorful journey intertwining realism and fantasy" (Complex) for girls' empowerment through sports in India, was chosen as one of 11 films by "the most dynamic directors" alongside Spike Lee and other greats for Beats of the Beautiful Game.
